OK..I UNDERSTAND THIS VIDEO IS SUPER GROSS BUT IT HAS A STRONG CONNECTION TO CHAPTER EIGHT. CHAPTER EIGHT IS ABOUT THE CORRUPTION WITHIN THE L.A. PIG DEPARTMENT. ROBERT FERNANDEZ IS A VATO LOCO, OR SHOULD I SAY WAS, WHO WAS ARRESTED SIMPLY FOR MAKING A STATEMENT WHICH HAD TO DO WITH LA RAZA. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE HE WAS TO BE RELEASED IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. BUT THEN A COUPLE OF HOURS GREW INTO A COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL THE FAMILY COULD MAKE THE 500 DOLLAR BAIL AMOUNT. BEFORE THE FAMILY COULD EVEN GET THE MONEY, THEY WERE NOTIFIED THAT FERNANDEZ HAD COMMITTED SUICIDE. THE FERNANDEZ FAMILY KNEW ROBERTO WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT. HE HAD ALREADY TURNED HIS LIFE AROUND. HE WENT FROM A VATO LOCO TO A HARD WORKING MAN, AND HE HAD EVEN LAID OFF THE DRUGS. SINCE THE L.A.P.D. HAD THE POWER, THEY COVERED THE MURDER STORY WITH ONE OF SUICIDE. EVEN THE DEATH CERTIFICATE WAS FALSIFIED. WITH THE HELP OF BROWN, THE FERNANDEZ FAMILY WAS ABLE TO GET A SECOND CHANCE TO REVEAL THE REAL CAUSE OF POOR ROBERTO'S DEATH. THAT SECOND CHANCE WAS A SECOND AUTOPSY. O.Z. ACOSTA DESCRIBES IN DETAIL THE AUTOPSY AND HOW ROBERTOS BODY WAS LITERALLY DESTROYED IN ORDER TO FIND TRACES OF BRUISES, STRUGGLE, ETC.
THE REASON WHY THIS CHAPTER IMPACTED ME WAS NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY GROSS DETAILS BUT ALSO BECAUSE CORRUPTION STILL PLAYS A LARGE ROLE IN TODAYS WORLD. THE L.A. PIG D. IS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE YET WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT THEY DON'T DO SHIT!! I HAD AN EXPERIENCE SIMILAR TO THAT OF ROBERTOS. MY BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME WAS WALKING ME HOME. WE WERE ON CYPRESS AVENUE WHEN WE FIRST SAW THE COPS. AS WE KEPT WALKING, WE SAW THEM MAKE A U-TURN. THEY APPROACHED US, OF COURSE. BECAUSE MY EX IS TALL, DARK, AND DRESSES IN BAGGY CLOTHES IN THE EYES OF THE "JURAS" HE COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. ALL WE WERE DOING WAS WALKING AND WE GOT STOPPED. AFTER THEY SEARCHED HIM AND THEY QUESTIONED US THEY FINALLY LET US GO. THEY JUST WANTED TO FIND SOMETHING ON HIM SO THEY COULD TAKE HIM IN.
WHAT I WILL REMEMBER MOST ABOUT THIS CHAPTER IS WHAT BROWN SAID IN THE END. IT KIND OF HAS TO DO WITH WHAT BROWN SAID AT THE END OF CHAPTER 19. HE FELT KIND OF BAD THAT ROBERTOS BODY HAD TO BE COMPLETLEY DISFIGURED BUT IT HAD TO BE DONE IN ORDER FOR JUSTICE TO BE SERVED.
Dam that video is brutal but you do have a point it connects very well to the chapter. I also agree with your opinion on how you are profiled by the cops based on your looks. I have had similar experiences to what you discribed when just driving in the car with friends that wear clothes considered to be "gangster".

Awesome! Dude, like I like gory horror movies and shit, but wow, this shit was intense! And good call relating it to the chapter. I thought about taking a scene from Zombie (1979) or Cannibal Holocaust (1980) but I couldn't find the scenes I wanted to relate to the book, but damn dude, I'm surprised I was able to finish this video only because of the fact that I can watch the goriest most disgusting movies of all time but I can't watch Dr. 90210 because they operate on real people... This was interesting though (you should check out Faces of Death, it's a documentary where people die, some were created for the documentary but still, some of the things are real and its crazy. I know its on google video but if you got a PS3 or a bluray player, go to Barnes and Noble and pick up the 30th anniversary edition on Blu-ray.)
ReplyDeleteAs for some of the other comments, I've only had the racial profiling thing happen to me very few and very subtle times. They weren't too important to me only because they weren't significant. This one guy did piss me off though cause he thought I was Mexican...I'm Puerto Rican man, I can swim... haha but damn good job with the post and damn good job with the video cause I tried hard to find something gory haha.
