This connects to Chapter 12 because during Browns speech in front of the jury he digresses with a story about Hernando Cortez to conquer the land or die for the glory of God . He explains how they attack village after village and even make alliances with the natives promising protection from Montezumas bloody rituals. He talks about the natives marched to the capital.
I will remember this from chapter 12 because Brown makes a great point by saying "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, if we had planned to ransack the temple, if we wanted to attack the sanctuary...tell me, would we have brought women and children?"
